Getting a facial is not only relaxing and rejuvenating to the face, but also the mind. Facials allow you to focus on your breathing and regain your confidence in having healthy beautiful skin. Monthly facials help to support you’re at home skincare program to achieve the healthiest skin possible.

Increase Circulation

Facials help to renew skin cells by circulating the blood flow under the skin, which then can decrease puffiness and fluid buildup that comes from our lymphatic system. Good circulation is important in that it brings oxygen,  proteins and nutrition to the skin, while ridding our skin of toxins.

Deep Cleansing

Although, we like to think our daily skin cleaners are getting deep down into our pores, they can only do so much. Getting a facial helps remove the buildup of oil and dirt that an everyday cleanser cannot. Bacteria derived by the oil and dirt are also removed, leaving you with healthy glowing skin.

Anti-Aging

By increasing the circulation in your face, the cell turnover rate helps to slow down the aging process. Getting a monthly facial massage stimulates collagen production and strengthens the muscles in your face, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles and gaining softer smoother skin. (Collagen is naturally produced, but unfortunately starts to decline at about age 21)

Relaxation

Getting a facial is not only relaxing to the face, but also the mind. Facials allow you to focus on your breathing and regain your confidence in having healthy beautiful skin.

Yes! Acne scars tell the story of a difficult time in the life of your skin. They usually result from blemishes that become inflamed. Sometimes pores are damaged deep within skin, which can lead to lesions. When skin attempts to repair itself, it may result in raised tissue, and uneven texture on the surface. Other times there is a loss of tissue, which leaves skin’s surface rough and uneven.

If you are dealing with facial acne scars, you’re not alone. According to The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, 80% of people ages 11-30 have acne problems and scarring. The short answer is that while self-care is good for rosacea, heat is not. Rosacea is an inflammatory condition that can flare up with certain triggers. Unfortunately, these triggers include some basic components of conventional skincare treatments, so for many rosacea sufferers having a facial is an absolute no-no. Because rosacea is such a visible condition, sufferers can feel self-conscious and worried about how they look in public, and sadly stress is as much of a trigger for rosacea flares as sunlight and spicy foods. If feeling good about yourself and looking after your skin is important, we are here to help you achieve your goals. Our skin care experts are trained in all skin conditions and will make the appropriate changes to the conventional facial so as to not exacerbate your Rosacea symptoms.  Leaving you with calmed beautiful skin!

Facials for sensitive skin can improve complexion, reduce inflammation and boost your skin's immunity which will help prevent future irritations. For a sensitive skin facial, expect gentle touch and products with soothing ingredients such as natural fruits and plant elements and sea-derived extracts to be used.

Anyone looking for youthful, glowing skin can benefit from a facial or skin renewal treatment. Whether the problem is acne or early signs of aging, a med spa facial can leave patients feeling and looking their best. And unlike more dramatic procedures, facials require no downtime. Here are a few things patients should keep in mind when undergoing the treatment.

Within the First 24 Hours Following the Procedure

Patients can return to their normal day after a facial, including returning to work. But, heavy makeup and facial products should be avoided, even if the skin is red after the treatment. Skin renewal treatments already open pores more than normal, making skin more susceptible to bacteria. Normal makeup routines can resume the next day, but this is a great opportunity to thoroughly clean those makeup brushes!

Any activity that can cause sweat should also be put off for 24 hours. This includes going to the gym and anything that gets the heart rate up, as increased heat and sweat can be irritating to the skin. Even the sauna should be avoided, as the steam can cause skin sensitivity and broken capillaries.

Between your swollen feet, aching back and dry, itchy skin, there’s never a time you’ll need a spa day more than when you’re pregnant. But can you go to a spa when pregnant? The good news is yes—but timing is important, and so is knowing what treatments to avoid to ensure spa pregnancy safety.  Going to a spa can be safe in pregnancy—it can be a good way to relieve stress and alleviate some of the normal discomforts of pregnancy.  Some precautions should be taken, it’s always a good idea to talk with your doctor before indulging in any spa treatments.  Once your doctor confirms that going to a spa is safe, work in that “me time” as much as you can. After all, spa treatments will be hard to come by once the baby arrives.

Facial Treatments While Pregnant

It depends. It’s generally safe to get a facial while pregnant—as long as you avoid harsh treatments like microdermabrasion and certain kinds of chemical peels, which can do more harm than good. Because your skin is extra-sensitive now that you’re pregnant, But gentle exfoliating facial scrubs, like crushed apricot kernels or bamboo beads, followed by a deep-moisturizing mask (think avocado or yogurt) are a safe and soothing option.

The precautions: Double check that the products being used in your facial treatments are toxin-free and are safe for you and baby. Beta hydroxy acid (BHA), such as salicylic acid, is one ingredient you don’t want in your facial peels.  High doses of the acid in oral form has been shown to be harmful for baby, so doctors recommend avoiding chemical peels that contain BHA. But good news: Facial treatments that use alpha hydroxy acid, like glycolic and lactic acid, are derived from sugarcane and are considered pregnancy-safe. Bottom line: Consult with your doctor before getting any peels.

The perks: Some women’s skin light up in a pregnancy glow—others, not so much. When faced with common pregnancy problems like acne, dryness and redness, a calming, hydrating facial can be just the thing.
