Micro-Needling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that's used to treat skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Also know as collagen induction therapy, this treatment creates micro-punctures in the skin using miniature, steralized needles. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD) the skins healing process after microneedling can help reduce the appearance of scars and dark spots as well as improve skin elasticity. Also though more research is needed, research suggests that microneedling may promote hair growth in people with alopecia.
You may be an ideal candidate for this procedure if you're in good health and have certain skin concerns that haven't responded to home treatments or other types of dermatologic procedures such as chemical peels. This may be also a final step before considering more intensive cosmetic procedures.

Chemical Peels
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel, also known as chemexfoliation or dermapeeling, uses a chemical solution to improve the appearance of your skin. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to your skin, which causes trauma or injury to your skin’s layers. The skin layers eventually peel off revealing more youthful skin. The new skin is usually smoother with fewer lines and wrinkles, has a more even color and is brighter in complexion.
Chemical peels are most commonly performed on your face, neck or hands. They can help reduce or improve:
- Fine lines under your eyes or around your mouth and wrinkling caused by sun damage, aging
and hereditary factors. - Certain types of acne
- Mild scarring, sunspots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, uneven skin coloring
- Precancerous scaly spots called actinic keratosis, rough skin, scaly patches, dull complexion
- Dark patches (melasma) due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills
Chemical Peels can be done alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. And they can be done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from. We will work with you to determine the depth of your peel. This joint decision can vary depending upon the condition of your skin and the objectives of treatment.
Depending on the issues you're addressing with the procedure, you'll choose a chemical peel in one of three depths:
- Light chemical peel. A light (superficial) chemical peel removes the outer layer of skin (epidermis). It's used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone and dryness. You might have a light peel every two to five weeks.
- Medium chemical peel. A medium chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and from portions of the upper part of your middle layer of skin (dermis). It's used to treat wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone. You might need to repeat the procedure to achieve or maintain the desired result.
- Deep chemical peel. A deep chemical peel removes skin cells even deeper. Your doctor might recommend one for deeper wrinkles, scars, or precancerous growths. You won't need repeat procedures to get the full effect.
If you’ve tried topical treatments with little success or are seeking professional results, a chemical face peel could be a good choice. Acne breakouts, fine lines, and age spots are a good indication that it’s time to book that appointment.
